Collars for a Cure!

COLLARS FOR THE CURE - $20 Each. All $20 goes towards Tami's 3-Day Walk.

Last year, I got the great idea to try to participate in the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk. Sadly, I picked a terrible time to try to do it (I had just gotten married a few weeks prior) and I just couldn't find the time to fund raise. However, my friend Tami DID raise enough money and she walked all 60 miles of the Philadelphia event. I was (and still am) so proud of her!!!

This year, Tami got some terrible news that someone close to her was diagnosed with breast cancer. So, she and her brother are going to be walking together this year as part of their team, "It’s for the Boobies, Mom" (that is so fabulously Tami for you!!!).

Since I was the one who convinced her to walk last year and bailed on her, I have decided to try to help her out this year. I have created a special line of collars that are Collars for the Cure. Every dime I make from them will go to Tami's efforts. That means, I am buying the fabric, hardware, shipping - everything out of my own pocket and giving $20 out of $20 to Tami's cause! How exciting!!!

Here are some photos of the Collars for a Cure (sorry that they are not the best):

Pink ribbon fabric is what every
Collar for the Cure
is made from.

Yes! Even the hardware is pink!

Each collar is $20. I am able to make every size (please note that for the Cat version the hardware is standard black - my apologies).

Email me if you are interested!

Collar Orders Galore!

Wow, when it rains it pours! I have just gotten FOUR new collar orders this weekend! That's pretty exciting for me!

Just to let you all know, there are a few things going on here at Katie&Olive this week:

1. I am going out of town for work for 2 days. So, if you contact me on Tuesday or Wednesday and don't get a reply - that's why! I will be "in the field" learning how to assess shorelines for oil spill damage (no lie - that's part of my job).

2. I am going to be exploring the possibilities of matching leashes. Leashes have been a big request since day one. But, I wanted to get over the hurdle of Bark for Life before I started thinking about them!

3. DM bought me a puppy model. Okay - so, it's really just the Giant stuffed yellow lab from Ikea, but - it works extremely well. That means, better photos of what you can purchase from Katie&Olive!

Yay!

Thanks everyone!

Phew!

I am quite excited that I don't have to hunch over my sewing machine for hours tonight!

Bark For Life went fairly well. I made about $100 for PBB and about $50 for the American Cancer Society! But, even more importantly - I got a lot of positive feed back from the Delaware puppy community!

I told DH and friend V that if I sold even one collar, I would consider it a "success" - and I sold more than that and had people tell me how much they loved the collars! Yay!

Now, my main goal is to rework this site a bit to make it more "order friendly" - photos of the current styles I have available, etc.

PS - I was asked about Preppy Puppy/Preppy Kitty fabric. I'm sorry but I am out of the madras (it's the same fabric for both) and won't be getting more at this point. Maybe later on (since it was so popular) - but, it is REALLY hard to sew. I will let you know when/if it is reintroduced! :)

Tomorrow is the BIG Day!

Well folks, tomorrow is Bark For Life. When I get up at the butt crack of dawn to try to sell my collars to make money for charity.

I have no idea how it is going to go. I am just happy that I have a boat load (ok, a J. Crew bag load) of collars made! See (sorry about my feet - I am in DESPERATE need of a pedicure! LOL):

Everyone here at my sweatshop workshop is beat! I demanded recruited the help of everyone in my family. Mom, Dad, brother, husband, cousins. Everyone. Even Pfeiffer (who gave out some awesome "moral support") was pooped:

I hope tomorrow goes well! Wish me luck! And, now - if you would like to order a collar, I have a TON of fabulous and fun new fabrics - flames, camo, flowers, Halloween, Christmas, pink ribbon (for Breast Cancer), fishing, and many, many more! Yay!

Thought I would close out today with this silly picture. Remember how Pfeiffer likes to sleep with her head sticking under the ghetto air conditioning sheet? Well, here's the view from the other side (LOL):

Ha! She looks like a ghost dog!

Have a great weekend!

How to Order

A few people have emailed me asking how you order yourself a Puppy Love collar. It's simple!

Send an email to katieandolive at gmail dot com - subject line: "Collar Order".

Let me know what size collar* (1/2", 3/4" or 1") you are interested in and what style collar you would like (note: we are currently out of Preppy Puppy and I have many more in stock now that I haven't gotten around to photographing and placing up here. If you see something in the mass pictures that you like, you can always email me with the basic style of the fabric you saw and we can work together to figure out which one it is you want!).

*Sizes: 1/2" are TINY (we're talking chihuahuas and cats), 3/4" have been ordered for pug sized dogs and 1" seem to be the most universal (fitting everyone from beagles to giant labs). If you need a larger collar - let me know, that can be done, it will just take longer.

If you have any other questions, please email me - I'm pretty easy going and will answer your questions as soon as I can! :)

Thanks for your interest. I promise that my next item of "business" after this Bark for Life collar making bonanza is figuring out how to make this website actually work for me!

I'm getting there...!

Phew! These next few days are going to be crazy trying to get ready for the Bark for Life!

I am about 2/3 of the way done all of the collars! I have gone from this:

To this:

All ready to be tagged and given hardware!

I have my slaves family working hard on helping me - even Pfeiffer is pooped!

(As some of you know, we don't have central AC - so, we placed a few window units in and very ghetto-ly put up a sheet to keep the air in! LOL! Here Pfeiffer was sleeping in the AC but with her head under the sheet, very strange and funny at the same time!)

I'm getting there!!!
